Zdamwu to train 60 mine workers
The Zimbabwe Diamond Allied and Minerals Workers Union (ZDAMWU) is running training workshops for mine workers which are going to be rolled out from 24-26 September 2021 in Hwange and from 8-10 October in Kadoma.
The trainings which are being bankrolled by our Global mother body IndustriAll and aimed at capacitating union shop floor organizers , Organizing and Recruitment during COVID-19 restrictions follows similar trainings which were conducted last year.
In line with promotion of gender and youth participation in mining Zdamwu has selected 60 people from Hwange and Kadoma, were the 60 include 12 women, 20 young workers and 28 senior members.
Zdamwu General Secretary Justice Chinhema said the training is aiming to capacitate shop follow members to organize and recruit during this covid restrictions as well as union building.
“ As workers we would like to express our gratitude to Industriall for the support, we are greatly indebted. All this support is towards making Zdamwu the most representive union in the mining industry in Zimbabwe. Industriall has supported us from the training done last year which was targeting general knowledge in labour law and procedures and results are overwhelming. We are so happy that we 60 of our ZDAMWU members will be undergoing an extensive capacity building training,” Chinhema said.
